Ashburn resident qualifies for collegiate National Debate Tournament

Nicholas Lepp of Ashburn, VA, a member of James Madison University's nationally ranked policy debate team, has qualified for the National Debate Tournament, which be held March 28-31 in Bloomington, Ind.

Only the top two-person debate teams in the country are invited to participate in the tournament. Lepp, a sophomore majoring in philosophy and religion and communication studies, and three other JMU students will be debating against teams from schools such as Harvard, Dartmouth, Northwestern, Wake Forest and Georgetown. JMU is sending two teams for the first time in 22 years.

Overall, Madison's debate team is currently sixth in the Cross Examination Debate Association rankings and ninth in the National Debate Association rankings.
