Brynnan Recker of Austin Tabbed CAA Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week

Sophomore Brynnan Recker earned Colonial Athletic Association weekly honors for the first time of her career as the league announced the outside hitter CAA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Recker helped the Dukes to a 2-0 weekend to open league action as JMU swept William & Mary before earning a 3-1 victory over the Phoenix at Elon. James Madison improved to 10-5 overall on the season.

The outside recorded double-digit kills in both conference matches, totaling 25 on the week to average 3.57 per set. Recker garnered her 25 kills on 55 swings for a .476 hitting percentage through seven sets.

Against William & Mary, Recker tallied her first double-double of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs. Recker alongside outside hitter Janey Goodman recorded 15 or more kills on the road at Elon with 15 and 18, respectively. It was the first time since Oct. 16, 2015 that two Dukes accomplished the feat.

The Austin, Texas native closed the weekend adding three assists, 19 digs and four total blocks.

JMU continues conference action with a two-match road swing this weekend as the Dukes travel to Hofstra on Friday, Sept. 30 for a 7 p.m. serve. JMU closes its road trip at Northeastern on Sunday, Oct. 2 at noon.
