Chester student to march in Northam inaugural parade

2018 Jan 16

Logan Spitzley of Chester, who is part of the Clarinet section in the James Madison University marching band, the Marching Royal Dukes, will be marching in the inaugural parade for new Virginia Governor Ralph Northam on Saturday, Jan. 13 in Richmond.

The parade will begin at 1 p.m. and go around the capital square.

Spitzley is majoring in psychology and health sciences and expects to graduate in Spring 2019.

In addition to playing at halftime of JMU football games, the Marching Royal Dukes, which average about 400 members, have established a strong tradition as ambassadors of the university and community both in the region and abroad. In November, the band will return to New York City for its fourth appearance in the Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
