Christiansburg student to march in Northam inaugural parade

Isabel Wood of Christiansburg, who is part of the Baritone (BC) section in the James Madison University marching band, the Marching Royal Dukes, will be marching in the inaugural parade for new Virginia Governor Ralph Northam on Saturday, Jan. 13 in Richmond.

The parade will begin at 1 p.m. and go around the capital square.

Wood is majoring in music education and expects to graduate in Spring 2018.

In addition to playing at halftime of JMU football games, the Marching Royal Dukes, which average about 400 members, have established a strong tradition as ambassadors of the university and community both in the region and abroad. In November, the band will return to New York City for its fourth appearance in the Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
