Elizabeth Strauss of Ruckersville Participates in Alternative May Break Program

Ruckersville, VA resident Elizabeth Strauss recently participated in the James Madison University Alternative May Break Program. Strauss, a sophomore interdisciplinary liberal studies major, worked with Project Homecoming during this year's trip.

Students who participate in the annual Alternative May Break trip continue serving those communities that were affected by Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Coast region. The trip is sponsored by Community Service-Learning at JMU.

While the focus remains on re-building houses and communities, the trip incorporates the type of work that is most necessary at the time of arrival. For more information on the Alternative Break Program, see www.jmu.edu/abp.
