Esha Hore of Belle Haven, VA Spent Spring Break Serving Others

2013 Mar 11

Esha Hore of Belle Haven spent spring break serving others as part of James Madison University's Alternative Spring Break program. Hore, a junior health sciences major, traveled to Winter Park, Fla. to volunteer at Family Promise of Greater FL.

While in Florida the students teamed up with multiple nonprofit organizations to help with different tasks that were most beneficial to the community. This trip partnered with JMU’s Center for Multicultural Student Services, therefore the goal of the trip was to expose everyone to different cultures and communities that students are unaware of in Winter Park, Fla.

The student-led ASB trips, scheduled for March 2-9, are each based on a social issue such as homelessness, environmentalism or community wellness. Over 300 students embarked on 30 spring break trips around the country and world. The students spend the week living simply, focused on service in their destination community but also on teamwork and reflection within their group.
