Janey Goodman of Powhatan Named CAA Championship Most Valuable Player

2016 Nov 28

Leading James Madison volleyball to its first CAA Championship since 2000, senior right side hitter Janey Goodman of Powhatan was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

The senior garnered 20 kills on a 3.27 hitting percentage while adding seven blocks over JMU's back-to-back sweeps on No. 5 Towson and No. 6 Delaware in the semifinals and finals, respectively, to win the tournament title. Goodman was key in JMU's come-from-behind victory over Delaware in the second set, tallying the final four points in the championship drive.

James Madison will open the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, Dec. 2 when the Dukes face Sun Belt Conference Champion Coastal Carolina at 4:30 p.m. inside Carmichael Arena in Chapel Hill, N.C.
