After leading James Madison volleyball to its best season start since 1999, Janey Goodman of Powhatan was named Colonial Athletic Association Co-Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league Monday.

Goodman paced the Duke offense over the weekend with 59 kills, averaging 5.9 per set, while attacking at a monstrous .424 hitting percentage to win Cornell Invitational Most Valuable Player honors. Against Cornell, the right side hitter set a career-high for kills over three-sets with 22. The Powhatan, Va. native followed the performance with 20 kills against Colgate as the Dukes swept the Raiders. Defensively, Goodman added 12 blocks and 24 digs.

Goodman is averaging 1.23 blocks per set and a league-leading 4.95 kills per set in her senior campaign.

The Dukes improved to 6-1 on the year, the best start since JMU won seven consecutive games to open the 1999 season, as James Madison won the Cornell Invitational with sweeps over Cornell and Colgate and a 3-1 victory over Marist.
