Janey Goodman of Powhatan Named CAA Volleyball Preseason Player of the Year

Janey Goodman of Powhatan was selected as the 2016 Colonial Athletic Association Preseason Player of the Year after a vote of the league's coaches.

Goodman, the reigning CAA Player of the Year, led the CAA in both kills per set (4.33) and points per set (5.02) a season ago. The Powhatan, Va., native racked up 468 kills, 542 points and 93 total blocks, leading the Dukes in all three categories. Goodman credited with 267 digs and 24 service aces while totaling a team-best 12 double-doubles. Rounding out her junior-season accolades, Goodman earned First Team All-CAA and AVCA All-East Coast Region Team honors.

James Madison volleyball was selected to finish the season fourth in the preseason poll. The Dukes opened the season with a 3-1 start after an undefeated performance at the JMU Invitational before suffering their first loss at the hands of No. 7 Washington.
