Janey Goodman of Powhatan Named To AVCA East Coast All-Region Team

2016 Dec 6

James Madison volleyball's senior right side hitter Janey Goodman of Powhatan was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association after being selected to the East Coast All-Region Team.

Goodman earns her second AVCA regional honor after a record-breaking senior season. She is the lone Colonial Athletic Association student-athlete to be named to an All-Region team. The senior was honored earlier this season as the CAA and the Eastern College Athletic Conference Player of the Year.

The senior led the league with 522 total kills to average 4.64 per set, both single-season records for the Dukes. Goodman added 621.0 total points, averaging 5.22 pet set. Nationally, Goodman currently ranks in the top 12 in all four categories. The Powhatan, Va. native rounded out her offensive numbers with a .318 hitting percentage, fourth-best in the league, on 1,338 attack attempts, which is Goodman's third single-season record set over her senior season.

Goodman closes her career ranking second in career kills (1,716) and career attack attempts (4,452), tied for second in career kills per set average (3.80), fourth in career block assists (332), fifth in sets played (451) and eighth in total blocks (353).

Goodman is now eligible for AVCA All-American consideration. The AVCA Division I All-Americans will be announced on Wednesday, Dec. 14.
