Janey Goodman of Powhatan Named VaSID Player of the Year

James Madison right side hitter Janey Goodman was named the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Player of the Year for the second consecutive season after a record-breaking senior campaign. Goodman also recieved First Team All-State accolades for the second year in a row.

The Powhatan, Va. native is coming off a record-breaking senior season as Goodman has already been tabbed as an American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American Honorable Mention and East Coast All-Region Team member as well as earning CAA and Eastern College Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors.

The senior led the league with 522 total kills to average 4.64 per set, both single-season records for the Dukes. Goodman added 621.0 total points, averaging 5.22 pet set. Nationally, Goodman currently ranks in the top 12 in all four categories. The Powhatan, Va. native rounded out her offensive numbers with a .318 hitting percentage, fourth-best in the league, on 1,338 attack attempts, which is Goodman's third single-season record set over her senior campaign.

Goodman closes her career ranking second in career kills (1,716) and career attack attempts (4,452), tied for second in career kills per set average (3.80), fourth in career block assists (332), fifth in sets played (451) and eighth in total blocks (353).

Goodman also earned Second Team All-State honors her sophomore season.
