Micah Barbour of Dublin chosen for summer Governor's Fellows Program

2014 May 22

Micah Barbour of Dublin, a student at James Madison University, has been selected to participate in the 2014 Governor's Fellows Program.

The program, which will run June 2 through Aug. 1, offers a select group of outstanding and highly motivated individuals the opportunity to experience firsthand the administration of state government in the commonwealth. Participants are placed in different positions in the Governor's Office and in various agencies throughout the executive branch. The program attempts to match Fellows with compatible assignments according to background, interests and future goals.

Barbour is a rising senior at JMU majoring in political science with a minor in history. "I read a number of stories online about other students who had participated in this program and how involved they were in forming policy, and I knew immediately this is something I wanted to do because I want to be able to give back to the commonwealth that has given me so much," Barbour said. He plans to attend law school after graduating from JMU and become a civil rights attorney.
