Sarah Martin of Fort Lauderdale Named CAA Rookie of the Week

Helping the Dukes extend their eight-match win streak and earn the regular-season title, James Madison volleyball's Sarah Martin earned her second Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week honors as announced by the league on Monday.

JMU went undefeated in the second-half of the conference slate winning eight consecutive matches after earning victories over Delaware (3-1) and Towson (3-2) to clinch the regular-season title and earn the No. 1 seed at next week's CAA Championship hosted in Wilmington, N.C.

Freshman Martin split time at setter over JMU's final two matches of the season, garnering 46 assists to average 5.11 per set and guiding JMU to a .280 hitting percentage over the weekend. Martin rounded out the stat sheet with a kill, service ace and 24 digs.

The Fort Lauderdale, Fla. native recorded back-to-back double-doubles for the Dukes. Against Delaware, Martin dished out 24 helpers with 12 digs before tallying 22 assists and 12 digs in the regular-season finale against Towson. Martin has notched seven double-doubles this season to rank second on the team.

Earning a bye into the semifinals, the Dukes will return to the court on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. JMU will face the winner of Friday's quarterfinal matchup between Hofstra and Towson.
