2016 Nov 28

Honoring student-athletes that have made significant impacts on the court while also maintaining excellence in the classroom, Taylor Gail of Chesapeake was named to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Academic Team.

Gail earns her first end-of-year honor from the CAA after earning a spot on the All-Academic team. The sophomore was a recipient of the CAA Commissioner's Academic Award a season ago and has earned her way on the Dean's List twice over her career.

The Chesapeake, Va. native leads the Dukes and ranks second in the conference with a 1.26 blocks per set average, the sixth-highest in program history, and has garnered six or more blocks in 11 matches this season.

The middle blocker has had an outstanding sophomore campaign, surpassing her debut-season totals in kills, attacks, service aces, digs and blocks. With 130 total blocks this season, Gail has recorded the 10th most in program history over a single season while ranking fifth with 117 block assists. She has already etched her name onto the JMU career record books with her 1.14 blocks per set average ranking the second-highest in school history.
