Tianna Groulx of Newport News served on James Madison University's Orientation Team

Newport News, VA resident, Tianna Groulx, recently served as a first year orientation guide (FrOG) on James Madison University's orientation team.

Groulx is a sophomore whose major is nursing.

FrOGs are a diverse group of undergraduate students who are committed to preparing students to be active and authentic participants in the JMU learning experience. FrOGs assist incoming first-year students in their academic, personal and social transition and serve as a representative of James Madison University throughout the university's 1787 August Orientation. They are legendary on campus for their annual FrOG dance that can be seen in the 2013 Orientation video.

JMU's award-winning orientation team develops, coordinates, and supervises the transitional needs of first-year and transfer students entering JMU. The Orientation Office coordinates Summer Springboard, 1787 August Orientation and prepares publications such as The One Book to assist new students and family members in their transition to JMU. Staff members work throughout the year to ensure incoming first-year and transfer students are provided with the resources, knowledge and peer connections for success at JMU.
