Tyler Howell of Richmond named a JMU Outriggers Peer Educator

2013 Dec 9

James Madison University and the Student Activities and Involvement office is proud to announce that Tyler Howell of Richmond is an Outriggers Peer Educator for the 2013-14 school year. Outriggers are an elite group of student leaders who are trained to facilitate interactive, team-oriented programs for other organizations. The Outriggers work closely with a requesting organization to tailor a program to their needs whether that be getting to know each other or overcoming organizational problems. These students are trained to promote organizational cohesion by fostering team building, group dynamics, communication, motivation, cultural diversity and leadership development. Outriggers provide the opportunity for organizations to recognize and fulfill the group's potential.

In order to become an Outrigger, Howell, a sophomore accounting major, went through a rigorous interview process including an essay-based application as well as individual and group interviews. Outriggers are known for their energetic teamwork activities, creative problem solving and ability to facilitate group discussions.
