Outrigger Peer Educators leading the way

Programmers-In-Training Crew
James Madison University's program board recently selected over 70 students to be Programmers-In-Training. The PIT Crew, as they are known, has been through six weeks of training about programming, marketing and leadership skills to prepare them to work behind-the-scenes at large and small venue concerts, film screenings and student created events.

Marching Royal Dukes represent JMU in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
The James Madison University marching band, the Marching Royal Dukes, will be marching in the 87th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, their third appearance in the holiday classic. The band is the largest in the parade and one of only two college bands invited to perform.

The James Madison University chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma recently inducted thirty-five students. Beta Gamma Sigma is an international honor society that provides the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a baccalaureate of graduate program at a school accredited by AACSB International.

2013 Marching Royal Dukes Announced
James Madison University's nationally recognized marching band, the Marching Royal Dukes, begin their season with 485 members, the largest in their history. On tap for this season are performances at Montpelier, the estate of James Madison, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

Orientation Team 2013
James Madison University's orientation team is made up of outstanding upperclass students who serve as first year orientation guides (FrOGs). FrOGs assist incoming first-year students in their academic, personal and social transition and serve as a representative of JMU throughout the university's 1787 August Orientation. They are legendary on campus for their annual FrOG dance.

JMU alumnus accepted into FoodCorps
Nick Geer, a May graduate of James Madison University, has been accepted into the FoodCorps program. The 22-year-old will spend 11 months at the St. Mary's Nutrition Center in Lewiston, Maine, where he will be teaching local schoolchildren the value of good nutrition and how to build and tend school gardens, as well as partnering with area farmers to put high-quality food on school lunch menus.

Over 300 JMU students embarked on 30 spring break trips around the country and world. The students spent the week living simply, focused on service in their destination community but also on teamwork and reflection within their group.
